Impossible Level Game

After much persuasion I’ve finally got my very own .com Please do update your bookmarks to my new blog

Do you love Sodoku ? Scrabble ? IQ tests ? If you’re like me and love working out mental abilities then this is a game you MUST try. Impossible Level Game takes an element of each of the games mentioned added with a bit of attitude.

The light version gives you 14 levels of play and let me tell you you’ll be gritting your teeth in frustration by level 7 😀 The objective of the game couldn’t be simpler; resolve the riddle and move on to the next level.

Taking into consideration the usage of the touchscreen and our own instinctual tendencies, Impossible Level Game mashes them well in most of the levels causing you to curse quietly under your breath as you try to figure it out.

Don’t expect much from the “retro” graphics as the appeal of the game lies within the riddles and not it’s interface. If you’re done with the demo and want more riddles to rack your brain then get the full version as it comes with 30 levels to keep you occupied. Yes I’ve finished all the levels and now I get joy by giving it to other people to solve the riddles and look at their expressions as they try to figure it out 😀

Without revealing too much of the game away, here are some screenshots to give you an idea of what to expect !!

Shooturtweeple KL

Was recently invited by a friend of mine, April Yim to join her and a few other people to do a shooturtweeple KL. The idea is simple enough, do a walkabout around a certain area and capture images and momentes that you would normally miss when you drive by.

The area we'll be covering

The area we'll be covering

It was suggested that we cover Petaling Street and it’s surrounding area. It was roughly a 3km walk and somehow when we ended up in Petaling Street we spent quite some time on taking pictures of food and of course sampling them. Oh and not forgetting the Air Mata Kucing, which is undoubtedly the best in KL 🙂

We had to cut out trip short due to other commitments and there should be another #shooturtweepleKL organised soon enough so we can complete our journey.

Here are some pics I took from the walkabout. Comments and feedbacks are most welcome 🙂

iPhone jailbreak now LEGAL

Yes you read that right ! It’s finally LEGAL to jailbreak your iPhone, though what content you put on your jailbroken iPhone is still debatable but at least now the whole legality of it is settled.

The first of EFF’s three successful requests clarifies the legality of cell phone “jailbreaking” — software modifications that liberate iPhones and other handsets to run applications from sources other than those approved by the phone maker. More than a million iPhone owners are said to have “jailbroken” their handsets in order to change wireless providers or use applications obtained from sources other than Apple’s own iTunes “App Store,” and many more have expressed a desire to do so. But the threat of DMCA liability had previously endangered these customers and alternate applications stores.

In its reasoning in favor of EFF’s jailbreaking exemption, the Copyright Office rejected Apple’s claim that copyright law prevents people from installing unapproved programs on iPhones: “When one jailbreaks a smartphone in order to make the operating system on that phone interoperable with an independently created application that has not been approved by the maker of the smartphone or the maker of its operating system, the modifications that are made purely for the purpose of such interoperability are fair uses.”

I’m pretty sure Apple are doing all they can to make the iOS unbreakable. They can always try 🙂

Sven Killig figured out how to enable USB host capabilities on his Nexus One running Android 2.2.  Watch the above video as his Nexus communicates with a keyboard, mouse, webcam, and external screen, and even runs movies off a flash drive.  Killig expects the hack to work on Android 2.1 as well.

First up was Daniels Lee presenting about Google Maps and it’s API’s. He did a short demo on how to create a map with markers, how to add a venue and even get the current position. Here’s a brief summary of what was covered by Daniels.

  • Map Controls (Default UI, Position Custom Controls, etc)
  • Overlays (Markers, Icon, Polylines, Ploygons, Custom Overlays, etc)
  • Map Events (MVC properties with event handlers, UI events, etc)
  • Map Services (Directions, Elevation, Geocoding, Street View, etc)

Apart from briefly explaining the new features of Google Maps API V3, Daniels also shared an app developed by him called Where is Coffee. It’s a simple app that allows users to add location of interesting food venues on the map which has custom markers. The source code for the app is available here

doubleTwist the iTunes alternative

I know a few people who are reluctant to get an Android powered smartphone for the mere fact that it doesn’t have a proper application to maintain, manage and sync their music to the mobile phone. There are also some who are so in love with iTunes and already have ton of playlists setup and rather not go through the hassle of moving to another media manager. Presenting doubleTwist the answer to all your woes !!

doubleTwist is an iTunes alternative that works with multiple portable devices including Android, Blackberry, Palm Pre, and Windows Mobile Phones as well as several handheld game consoles, portable media players, and even the Amazon Kindle. A full list of supported devices can be found here. doubleTwist also allows you to automatically import playlists from iTunes or Windows Media Player.

What’s best about doubleTwist is it’s free and works on both Windows and the Mac. Now syncing music, pictures and videos onto the Android is just a click away 😀

Okay, enough of the intro let’s get down to work.

  1. Download and install doubleTwist. Here’s the link
  2. doubleTwist setup
    doubleTwist setup
  3. After installing doubleTwist you can import your existing media and playlist from iTunes and Windows Media Player. To do so go to Edit, Preferences. This could take a while depending on how big your library is.

Multi touch keyboard

If you’ve read some of my post on the HTC Desire reviews, you would know that the Desire keyboard doesn’t allow multi touch and for those that can type very fast this has been an issue. Thanks to the awesome guys over at xda, a workaround has been found. Introducing the Droid X multi touch keyboard on the HTC Desire or any other 2.1 Android phone you own.

After using Swype for sometime going back to a tap keyboard feels kinda weird but if you prefer typing then do check out this keyboard as it really improves the typing experience over the included HTC one. Now you must be wondering why am I back on a normal keyboard after using Swype, if you’re not you’re gonna find out anyway 😛
