I’ve only heard friends talk about the new laser tag place in Mid Valley but I never had the chance to go experience it yet. So when the opportunity came to join Advertlets outing at Galactic Laser I immediately said YES ! Imagine 20-30 odd people running around trying to shoot each other. What mayhem and I absolutely wanted to be apart of it.

So what is laser tag all about ? Don’t worry no real lasers are used in the game, it uses an infra-red LED. It’s a team or individual sport  where players attempt to score points by engaging targets, typically with a hand-held infrared-emitting targeting device. Infrared-sensitive targets are commonly worn by each player and are sometimes integrated within the arena in which the game is played. It’s something like paintball minus the pain and paint.

Everyone has to wear this vest fitted with sensors and LED lights that differentiates the players and in which team they’re on. You’ll also get a laser gun which is hooked onto the body vest. The gun itself comes with a sensor and requires both hands on the gun for you to be able to shoot. So those who wanted to do a single handed Terminator gun scene can forget about it.  Once you’ve been shot your laser gun is disabled for a few seconds as you run to take cover.

If all these sounds confusing right now fret not, there will be a briefing session by the staff at Galactic Laser on how it all works and make sure to ask questions on things you don’t understand. Plus don’t forget to ask them about the bonus targets where you can score extra points 😉

Getting briefed

Getting briefed

The main game area has 3 levels and is rougly 6000 Sq Ft. It’s huge, TRUST ME !! After scouting around for a few minutes especially between levels you’ll realise how big the place is but when playing in a team of 7-8 people against the opposing team you’ll appreciate every space you can get; especially the nook and crannies where you can snipe away to your hearts content 😉

The scores are automatically calculated and it even shows your hit percentage. The best part ? The scores are displayed in real time to the others sitting and waiting at the lounge. It would have been cooler if there was video cameras in the game room so that you can watch the action while sitting and enjoying a drink. For those who want to just check it out without paying for a game you can head up to the observation deck on top to see the action.

Make sure to gather a group of people you love and hate and head over to Galactic Laser. It’s the best way to experience it and start boasting and jeering at the loser after the game. Satisfaction guaranteed 😀 Thanks to Rebecca and Advertlets for this lovely experience.

Galactic Laser is located on the 3rd floor, North Court of Mid Valley Megamall, next to Megakidz and Celebrity Fitness.
