iPad 2 launched

The long anticipated replacement for the successful iPad has finally been anounced and many received it with mixed emotions. Apple fans can’t wait to get their hands on it while the rest just sit back and snigger knowing what the othe tablet manufacturers have up their sleeves.

Steve Jobs proudly announces that they have sold 15 million iPads since April for the year 2010. iPad app store stats; they’re now at 65,000 iPad specific app.

The Hardware

  • A5 dual core processor; 2x faster with 9x faster graphics
  • Front and rear cameras
  • 8.8 mm; 1/3 thinner compared to iPad
  • 1.3 lbs lighter by 0.2 lbs
  • Same 10 hour battery life as iPad
  • Same price as the iPad !!

  • HDMI output supporting FullHD and only costs USD 39


HDMI mirrored output at 1080p, via cable. Works with all applications and supports rotation. No setup required. You’ll also be able to charge the iPad while playing via the HDMI.

Smart Covers

Covers cases, to add protection without adding weight. The cover will be held in place by magnets, enabling the iPad to go to sleep when it’s closed and then be brought back to life when opened. It will be available in polyurethane or leather, sold directly from Apple.  The magnets will be in the iPad itself, as well as in the cover. Plus the cover has microfiber inside to clean the screen when it is closed. The poly cases will cost USD 39, while the leather is USD 69.
