Yes that’s right, while everyone was busy talking about Maxis and the iPhone plans Digi has been slowly brewing a storm. To not be outdone by Maxis they are having a iPhone 4 carnival on the 25th and 26th of September at Quill 9, 112 Jalan Semangat, PJ.

More shall be unveiled soon as the media launch is going to happen today at 6:00pm.

Rumour as has it that Maxis will be changing their plans during the launch tonight hence why the plans has been taken off the main site.

I seriously wonder how good the Digi plan since no plan rates are out yet but if is causing Maxis worried it should be pretty good.

This indeed is going to be very interesting as both Maxis and Digi try to outdo each other to get the first batch of iPhone 4 out to the public 🙂

Yes like everything else with a zero Facebook has also gone on a diet. Introducing 0.facebook.com, a new way of accessing Facebook over the mobile giving you all the same features minus the higher bandwidth requirement the normal Facebook site has. The good part is it’s FREE !!! Yes you heard that right there’s no data charges for accessing 0.facebook.com. Now I know many users are already on unlimited data plan but this is for those who are not. Now everyone can Facebook on their mobile for FREE !!

Nothing in life comes for free right ? Well sadly it’s the same here, only certain mobile operators in certain countries will be providing this service. Now for the good news, yes it’s available locally !! Those who are using Digi can now access 0.facebook.com and enjoy it for FREE !!!

Here’s what you can expect from using Facebook zero

  • It’s fast: 0.facebook.com includes all the key features of the standard mobile site m.facebook.com. Users can update their status, view their News Feed, like or comment on posts, send and reply to messages, or write on their friends’ Wall just as they do on Facebook.com. Rather than making photos viewable on 0.facebook.com, the photos are one click away so they don’t slow down the experience. You can still view any photos on Facebook if you want but your regular data fees will apply.
  • It’s free: Thanks to the help of mobile operators they collaborated with, people can access 0.facebook.com without any data charges. Using 0.facebook.com is completely free. People will only pay for data charges when they view photos or when they leave 0.facebook.com to browse other mobile sites. When they click to view a photo or browse another mobile site a notification page will appear to confirm that they will be charged if they want to leave 0.facebook.com

Showdown – Yellow man vs Blue bear

I’ve been relying on Digi for my mobile Internet needs for a while now and so far the service has been reliable. I’m able to access the web in almost all places in Klang Valley at respectable speeds, good enough for my needs anyway. The only thing I would wish for from Digi is for them to increase their Turbo 3G service cause whenever I drop down to EDGE, it really feels like I dropped out of warp speed.

An irresistable offer popped up recently to switch my secondary line to Celcom and I grabbed it curious to see how things are with the blue bear as I’ve never used Celcom service before. I’ve only managed to use it for a day and I must say I’m pretty impressed with the speed.

I’m currently up North in Bachok, Kelantan and had already set my expectations on Internet availability quite low. I was surprised when I checked my phone and saw the 3G logo appear. Yay the yellow managed to follow me all the way here. Tried accessing Twitter and didn’t notice any difference until of course I wanted to share the beautiful view of the beach with my fellow twitterers.

It took me numerous tries and almost 10-15 mins to just upload one picture. Tried uploading to Facebook and that was an even worst experience. After 1/2 hour of trying I gave up, that’s when I gave up and decided to enjoy my little break instead. It then dawned upon me to switch to Celcom and see how they fare against Digi. I manage to upload my picture within the first try !!! Woots I’m a happy camper and I went on an upload frenzy and the envy of those still stuck behind the desk on a Friday afternoon 🙂

Decided to do a speedtest and here are the results.
